Acer palmatum 'Sango Kaku', commonly known as the coral bark Japanese maple, is a deciduous tree celebrated for its vibrant coral-red bark, especially prominent during the winter months. This upright, vase-shaped tree typically reaches 20–25 feet (6–7.5 meters) in height and 15–20 feet (4.5–6 meters) in width at maturity .
In spring, 'Sango Kaku' produces light green leaves tinged with soft pink, which mature to a medium green in summer. Come autumn, the foliage transforms into a brilliant golden-yellow with hints of orange, red, and pink, providing a striking contrast against the coral-colored bark.
