END OF SEASON - TAKING ORDERS FOR AUTUMN 2018
Prunus Laurocerasus Rotundiflora (common or Cherry Laurel) has been a staple of the British Garden for centuries - it is generally used as a hedging plant or to mark boundary edges due to its glossy evergreen foliage. It is a robust plant that thickens up providing an effective and attractive screen or back drop for the all gardens whether contemporary or traditional.
Our plants - whether grown by us or sourced from the continent are always thick and good quality whilst also being very price conscious. Our sizes start at 60cm or 2ft right up to or 4m or 12ft for those who wish to jump straight to an effective instant screen or hedge.
We also supply laurel hedging in Pleached form which have gained popularity in recent years. These plants are generally supplied on a clear stem of 6 feet with a trellis woven with the foliage of the laurel sitting above the stem providing covered at a higher level above ground where needed.
This plant, which is also known as Cherry, Common Laurel or Prunus laurocerasus 'Rotundifolia' is excellent for hedging or screening purposes, especially if you are looking for a quick growing, evergreen alternative to having a conifer hedge; Laurel Hedging is the next best thing.
The leaves of this plant are shiny and bright green and the plant will produce white flowers in the spring, which are followed by non-edible berries later in the year. It is able to be trimmed or pruned to the specific height that you require from it and can be cut back as hard as is needed if it starts to grow too large. It can be cut back right to the stump is necessary and it will re-grow back in to a new hedge quickly.
It can grow in most soils, in heavy shade or full sun and will often be seen planted under tree canopies and at a low height to help keep brambles and bracken down.
Laurel Hedging will grow in most soils in full sun or heavy shade, in fact you quite often see it planted under tree canopies in National Trust and other estates and kept trimmed to a low height to keep down the brambles and bracken.
